ACCEL Knowledgebase Question:

I bought Accel part # 8132 (Hi Perf Cap and Rotor kit) and the rotor will not fit. The machining seems a little off, ie plastic extrusion that fits in distrib. groove (channel) is too thick in plastic to slide in, as it should. Cap fits alright. Noticed on web that someone else calls this rotor being "too tight." What's the fix? Btw, where's your Q.C.? -and why don't you mention this problem? Fortunately other consumers do. How do you spot a "good" rotor? Parts store said they were aware of other comebacks on this one, but only offerred a new reg rotor (that fits). Really disappointed in Accel on this one, so far. Please respond as I'm pulling the cap off today and taking the whole thing back tomorrow, -and give approp. feedback to store. -Al.

Hi AL, Not sure what to say about your rotor being too small. We have not had any returns or recalls of any type on rotors, and this is my first complaint of this unit Not Fitting ? I do know that, there are Many Many different batches of plastic rotor parts made all the time for ACCEL. I suppose some of the batches could cure at different temps, and this could affect the Plastic Part's Shrink rate when dried ? We only have one set of tooling to make these rotors, they should be all the same. We have checked our inventory and our Rotors are within the QC tolerances. HOWEVER, we can not control the thickness QC of all distributor shafts. I can see a problem, if your shaft was on the thicker side and the Rotor on the smaller side. You can return the rotor for an ACCEL even exchange to the parts store, or send it to me for an even exchange. We apologize for the trouble you are having with this rotor.
