ACCEL Knowledgebase Question:

I cannot get the car to idle with the 300+ box hooked up, once the engine drops below 1200 RPM it just dies. the motor runs without the box hooked up so I am sure it is the box. I wired the box using the "GM HEI Magnetic Pick Up (With Ignition Module IN)" set up for the book. Ive set the rev limiter between 5000 and 8000 rpm, as well as turning it off and have not had any success. I have set the spark plug gap at .05 I have tried setting the timing from 8 BTDC to 12BTDC, I usually run this car with at least 14 -18 deg. of initial timing. Thanks

You may need to have the 300+ box checked. Please see the ACCEL website for directions on doing this

Modifications:  I have a 350 bored .30 over out of a 76 Monte Carlo (10.5:1 compression). I am running RHS iron heads with Maley components. I have a comp hydraulic cam, edelbrock air gap manifold 750 holley vaccum secondary, hooker headers. I rewired the whole car, the ignition system is made up of a proform distributor with a MSD HEI coil (I also tried a HEI accel super coil), I have an accel module in it and I am also running taylor 10.5mm wires with U groove spark plugs, and the vaccum advance is hooked up although I am not running a PCV
