ACCEL Knowledgebase Question:

I have recently replaced my points distributor with one of accels HEI 52100 and replaced my coil with your 140001. The first time I tried this I could not get the distributor to fire. I called your tech dept. and was told that the module could be burned out, so I sent it back and got another one. The second one worked for a few days, but now the distributor nor the coil will fire. I have by-passed the resistor. What am I doing wrong? Thanks Bill

Reply from Rep:

sounds like you are getting more then 12-13 volts to the module and popping it. Check the voltage going to the distributor. You do not have to use a ballast resistor with that coil or distributor. If you were then the low voltage could of caused issues also. Also make sure your grounds are in good condition. Make sure the the distributor os grounded to the engine block not the chassis. Also do not run the 12 volt (red wire) to a starter solenoid this will blow modules also. Hope this helps. Thanks
