ACCEL Knowledgebase Question:

If I place your new Accel points eliminator kit, do I also need to change the stock (points) coil to a later type (electronic)? Tx Laurence Simpson

Reply from Rep:

Not necessary. Points type coil will work as well or better than it did with points. An "electronic" coil with less secondary resistance or a lower inductance may be benificial but only at high rpm, say above 5000 rpm or so. In most cases, changing the coil won't make a noticeable difference. However, if you were to add an external amplifier box such as a 300+ or Mallory Hyfire, a coil change would be almost manditory.
