ACCEL Knowledgebase Question:

I have a chance to purchase an Accel re-manufactured distributor #71201E. Is this an old version of #52201? How does the 71201E compare to 52201?

Reply from Rep:

The 71 series was replaced by the 52 series. They use the same module. The 71 series uses the same housing, mechanical advance, vacuum advance, cap and rotor as a Mallory 57 series. The 52 series uses the same module as the 71 series but the rest is different. The mechanical and vacuum advance are based on GM designs and the cap and rotor are also interchangeable with GM/Delco.
